RILEY & ASSOCIATES, INC.
1323 West Cook Road
Grand Blanc, MI 48439
Dear Mr. Riley:
I am in receipt of your claim of April 21, 1998, regarding damage to yourcomputer. While we are sorry about your loss, you have offered no proof that your property was damaged due to the predeparture screening process. Our invistigation of the incident revealed that the screener involved did not mishandle your belongings in any way.
Predeparture security screening is required by law and Globe Security contracts with the indivigual airlines to perform this service. This screening process is intended to protect you from the "crazies in the world." Unfortunately, it is a necessary step in the travel process. Further, a trained supervisor is always present to assure our employees' proper performance.
Therefore, absent some indication that our employees have acted improperly, Globe is not responsible and will not accept liability for property damage.
We are sorry we cannot give a more favorable response to your claim, however, you have not provided us any evidence that the damages occured during the screening process.
Sincecely,
Craig D. Boyte
Claims Administrator

Riley Comments:
Since the Globe supervisor refused to document the incident, and did so in a very rude manner, it is very clear to me that Globe intentionally trains their staff to operate this way so they can deny responsibility. But this is not really surprising, since organizations tend to partner with other organizations who share their ethical standards, or lack thereof.
Furthermore Globe was not professional. Their address is a PO Box, often an indication of a shiftless, fly by night operation. They did not list a phone number, and when I did get a phone number it was only answered by a machine and they never returned calls.
